Prefishing for the NABC Lake Winnebago tournament went amazing. We caught big bags on biffle bugs and jigs. I prefished this lake probably a half a dozen times for this tournament, each time loading up on nice fish. So we went into tournament with high hopes - look at how excited we are at the beginning of the tournament:
But then the classic bass fishing scenario happened. The wind was coming out of the east quite strong and this was muddying up the western shoreline of Winnebago, where I had most of my fish. The water was muddy but we fished on with confidence. We caught lots of fish in the 14-16 inch range, but we could not come up with the kickers needed to put together a winning bag. We weighed in 5 fish at just over 10 pounds, which at the time, after prefishing so successfully, was a little hard to stomach. We still brought in a bag, culled out many fish, and live to fish another day.
