The winter is getting LONG! A lot of years I'm able to get out on the rivers and start fishing in March, but it's looking rough for this year. Thanks polar vortex. In the meantime, I'm occupying myself by getting ready for the fishing season. Here's what everyone should do to get ready for the season so you're best prepared for whenever it warms up.
- Make sure your boat registration is current.
- Update your boat insurance.
- Fishing licenses expire on March 31 - so renew it on April 1 so you don't go one day without it.
- Plan out your tournament schedule and submit entry forms for preregistration.
- Change lower unit oil on boat.
- Stock up on baits and new tackle.
- Reline your reels.
- Check rods and reels for damages; now is the perfect time to get anything fixed or warranties covered.
- Follow WooBass on Facebook and Twitter.
- Start watching river boat launches - as soon as they're ice free you can get out there.
- Clean and organize your boat.
