Since I got my boat back last week, I was dying to go fishing this past weekend. I decided to go to Mississippi River Pool 7. The first thing I did before I started fishing was just run my boat. I immediately went on a long run just so I can remember what it felt like again. I then began to fish around. It was a little slow, and I searched for new areas for later in the season. Right now is a good time to look around, since there are lots of spots you can get to easily in high water conditions. We got into some largemouth and a few northerns in the backs of feeder creeks and flats that warm up more rapidly than the channel. Good numbers of largemouth were caught after 12pm. Left my phone/camera in the truck, so no pictures for you today. Swimjigs and worms seemed to do the trick this trip.
